Accessing the inside scoop on who’s sitting front row at each show, the first sneak peak at this season and all those behind the scene moments is no longer a difficulty with this digital age, making fashion extremely reachable with the use of live feed catwalks and constant social media uploads. Meaning luckily enough for those of us who were unable to attend LFW (or those who’s invite was ‘lost in the post’!) still had the ability to catch all of the front row action… From the comfort of our own home!
Let’s take a closer look at some of those shows that took place…
One word. Mulberry. Known for its pure, iconic Britishness, this season for Mulberry was inspired by the spirit of heritage and rebellion, being designed for the everyday lives of contemporary men and women. Keeping intact with the British theme, they staged their show in The Printworks, an old printing house in Bermondsey.
For me, khaki is a wardrobe essential and it seems that the khaki trend isn’t leaving us very soon. The military inspired wardrobe again dates back to Britain’s nature of uniforms whether seen by the series of khaki overalls, or by the school inspired striped blazers.
But what is Mulberry without the glamour factor? Of course Johnny Coca hurled in the feminine effect of embroidery and florals – perfect for the transition from summer to spring. “I love flowers, I was thinking about the culture of the British garden” Coca said, followed by stating that he wanted “lots of skirts and dresses – its what women want in their summer wardrobe!”
Moving on to Topshop Unique. Topshop pride themselves on embracing technology, therefore in the sense of putting the customer at the heart of the company they blew us away with giving fans around the world the opportunity to truly experience the show in full. Backstage access, VIP arrivals and 360-degree virtual live-feeds are only the start of what Topshop provides to ensure their show was simply perfection.
Their Autumn Winter 2016 collection showed references to the Fifties. Sexiness was prominent with the long loved high-waisted cigarette trousers, delicate bras and the perfect LBD for evening glam – no matter what the weather!
Which designer blew you away at this years London Fashion Week?
