According to Moleskine, their notebook is, in fact, the heir and successor to the legendary notebook used by artists and thinkers over the past two centuries: among them Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, and Bruce Chatwin.
For those that don’t know, Moleskines are historically presented as a simple black rectangle with rounded corners, an elastic page-holder, and an internal expandable pocket.
Having been produced for over a century by a small French bookbinder that supplied the stationery shops of Paris, Molskines were renowned by the artistic and literary avant-gardes of the world . A trusted and handy travel companion, the notebook held invaluable sketches, notes, stories, and ideas that would one day become famous paintings or the pages of beloved books.
Moleskine have collaborated with the likes of The Ace Hotel, Tyler The Creator, The MOMA and The Simpsons to name a few.
After nearly 5 years of using these notebooks I haven’t looked back. Nothing has been able to compare with the combination of practicality, paper quality, aesthetic and heritage.
The Moleskine is definitely my preferential notebook of choice.
